Freediving Etiquette and how to find other divers in Dahab

Updated: Jun 11

Before going diving it is good to know what the etiquette is in Dahab.

If you are an already qualified diver and planning to do some sessions without an instructor present you will need to know what the Freediving Etiquette in Dahab is before you head out with your buddy. A friend has (with the help of many of the longterm dahabians) pulled together a list of things to be aware of and how to behave when you are diving both in Lighthouse and in Blue Hole.  The list is going to be continually updated.  So it’s a good idea to bookmark it so that you can check back for updates.  This is the link: FREEDIVING IN DAHAB COMMUNITY RULES

If you are planning to stay for a long time in Dahab it can be a good idea to have a couple of sessions with an instructor to show you the set up, where the buoys are and how it all works here.

Meeting other Freedivers:

There are a number of restaurants where you can meet other freedivers. Most mornings you will find Freedivers in Fresh Fish, Bayside, El Primo and Jays to name a few.  If you are looking to make friends and are here longterm this is a good place to have a look around.

There is also a Telegram group called “Lazy Tuna’s” which has most of the freedivers in

Dahab on the group.  This can be a great place to ask advice or buy/sell some equipment etc… You will also find info on any upcoming interesting events here so if you’d like us to invite you into the group give me a message with your phone number and we can get you added in. Samy
