Not too much in my opinion. Each agency has its own pros and cons. I think it is actually much more important to choose a good instructor than a particular agency. Choose an instructor who you know a bit about, check their style and see if it’s a match for you.
Below I have prepared a table of some of the different agencies and the different levels they offer and which level they are equivalent to on the other agency.
An example: Let’s pretend that you have already got your Molchanovs Wave 1 certification. You could then if you wanted proceed to the Wave 2 Molchanovs course or you could crossover to SSI and complete the SSI Advanced Freediver course which is equivalent to Wave 2 course.
If you have a certification from one of the smaller agencies not on the list or you have freediving experience but no certification, most schools/instructors will ask you to complete an evaluation day where your skills and knowledge will be assessed to see which level is the most appropriate for you. You may not need to start from the beginning again but its best to check with your instructor before you sign up to any course.
